Robots! Path to Power & NASA STEM Explorers

Robots! Path to Power

Explore the discoveries and inventions that have made robots possible. From learning how robots light up to getting them moving with gears. After learning the fundamentals, we will experiment with different sources of energy and even get to take a hand-powered generator home. We will see how these energy sources affect the environment and how they compare with sustainable energy while thinking about future energy sources!

NASA STEM Explorers

Developed in partnership with NASA, our campers will think and act like NASA innovators during this hands-on program inspired by the NASA OPTIMUS PRIME Research Challenge (NASA OPSPARC). Use creative and collaborative skills to design a mission patch, train like an astronaut, build a Mars rover and solve real-world engineering problems. How might you use space suit cooling tubes be used to solve a problem here on Earth?

For ages 8-12.

Campers must wear sneakers each day.

Varsity Golf Camp at Eagle Ridge Golf

Varsity golf camp at Eagle Ridge Golf is designed for the intermediate to advanced varsity golfer aged 11-15. Golfers will learn and improve all aspects of their game, including the rules, etiquette, swing fundamentals, and short game. Each day will have on course playing instruction and experience.

Each varsity golfer will receive a t-shirt, hat, and snacks each day.

Varsity golfers must have golf clubs. Students should wear athletic or golf clothing and sneakers.

For ages 11-15.

Criminal Justice CSI Academy

The Criminal Justice CSI Academy provides middle school students with an opportunity to see what it is like to work in law enforcement through activities designed and led by Ocean County College Criminal Justice faculty. Campers will have the chance to work in the college's forensic lab and crime scene lab to investigate, report on, and solve mock crime scenes, learn more about current law practices, and meet with local Ocean County professionals to find out about future careers in criminal justice.

For middle school students aged 10-14.

Camps will be instructed by Dr. Patrick Beatty and Dr. Stephen Agresti.

After serving proudly in the United States Marine Corps., Dr. Stephen Agresti joined the the NYPD as a uniformed patrol officerm where he patrolled North Manhattan for 5 years before being assigned to the Organized Crime Control Bureau's Narcotics Division, then later working as an investigator with the Manhattan North Homicide Taskforce. He received his Bachelor's degree in history from City University of New York, Master's degrees in both political science and criminal justice from Rutgers University, and a Doctorate degree in criminology from California University of Pennsylvania. His research interests are in policing, criminal justice reform, and Constitutional issues.

Dr. Patrick Beatty graduated from Seton Hall University and served 25 years in law enforcement before retiring from the New Jersey Department of Human Services State Police as a Senior Detective. He was a certified New Jersey Police Academy Lecturer and Drill Instructor recognized by the New Jersey State Senate receiving commendations for his practical field experience and investigative skills. As Chairperson at Ocean County College, he oversees the Criminal Justice Program to facilitate students pursuing careers in the field of law enforcement, forensics, law, and corrections.   

Co-Ed Volleyball Clinic

We offer our beginner friendly week long volleyball camp to introduce the necessary skills and the sport. Campers learn the fundamentals of the game including passing, setting, digging, rotations, serving, and offensive & defensive game knowledge. Campers learn drills used by high schools and colleges.

REQUIRED: Campers should bring a snack and sneakers. A water bottle will be provided to all campers, as well as access to a water cooler.

For ages 8-14.

Steam-Warts

Welcome to STEAMwarts Academy of Wizards, Spells and Potions! You'll design your own wand and wizarding gear and be sorted into your perfect STEAM house. You'll take on a full load of wizarding classes from Transfiguration to Flying Broomsticks to Magical Beasts. You'll mix up spellbinding potions, cast enchanting spells and make your own flying dragon. Camp will culminate with an enchanted graduation ceremony complete with butter beer and diplomas. STEAMwarts spots are sure to disappear like magic, so reserve yours today!

YouTube Content Creators

Find your voice and leave your mark on the world! Whether you are six or sixteen, it’s time to start a career as the next YouTube star. Explore the variety of content and personalities that exist on YouTube and how to find your own niche. Learn the Dos and Don’ts of the platform and how to practice good digital citizenship. Develop your on-camera presence, your own channel branding, and professional editing skills. Take home a plan for launching your own channel with the content created in class! Student projects will be available on a password protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family.Students will work in pairs or teams.

For ages 8-14.

Intro to Film & TV

Your child will work as the cast and crew in this innovative camp designed to introduce campers to the process of working on Film & TV. Campers are taught the basic levels of acting, directing, voice-over, operating the camera, and working on green screen. Script writing, storyboarding and improvisation will also be introduced. Each day is different as they create fun projects; commercials, film scenes, music videos and public service announcements.

After camp, all footage is sent to a professional editor that will be uploaded to a private YouTube channel. It may take up to 3 months of editing before the download link is sent out to participants.

For ages 8-15.

Super STEAM Hero
